wrong with camcorder

What's wrong with my camcorder?

I have a Sony Video Camera Recorder. Model No. CCD-TRV328, if that helps any. I can play tapes that I have previously recorded on fine. They show up clear with no problem. But now, when I look out of the viewfinder to record, it shows up a black screen. I don't know what's wrong with it. It was working great. It hasn't been dropped, and believe me, it's definitely not cheap! Does anyone know what could be wrong with it? What can I do to fix it?

Serious answers only, please.

It could be your ccd chip. CCD Chip is the one which transfers the picture you see onto the LCD. contact Sony and they would be able to advise if this model is on their list. then it could be a free fix.
