Video Camcorder Import Video Problem

Video Camcorder Import Video Problem? Cant import with usb cable?

help my video camcorder did not come with a cd to install it to make it work by putting or importing videos from it to your computer. It never came with a cable. So i just used a normal usb like for cameras. it works but when i plug it, it says cannot find the device. and says locate it. but how can i that there is no cd for it.

But then in school for one of our video projects, we used a cable from our computer class and then it just worked??? dont know how we were able to import the vid. i dont know how it was possible bcuz when i tried it at home with my usb cable it says it needs to locate the software. Does anyone know what kind of usb or cable i can use.

Plz dont tell me contact your device company and get a cable. i dont want that. i just want soemthing that can be bought in like bestbuy, target, etc... Anyone know how that was possible. But he just had some kind of usb cable or somemthing. Because what i have does not work, but lets me locate the device with a disk. but doenst have one.
